Well guys our prayers have been answered. I've just seen the solution to
all our energy problems on the previously credible Discovery Channel.
It's a car powered by air and was presented as completely non-polluting.
The engine was driven by tanks of compressed air and a stated side benefit
of this system was that the exhaust was cool and so would also help with
global warming. They also stated that the car could include an onboard
compressor to keep the compressed air tanks topped up and that the air
compressor would be powered by a generator connected to the air driven
engine. This car was presented along with a hydrogen powered car and a
solar powered car that somehow developed 8 horsepower from 2 square meters
of solar cells.

How do they compress the air in the first place? Regenerative compression
will work for braking and such, but there must be energy input to account
for rolling resistance, hills, etc. Granted, air compression is a good way
to store energy, and it will indeed work, but it is not completely non
polluting.

A human gets out a modified version of a tire pump or something hooked
up to a pedal powered device and just pedal/push away until the system
has enough pressure to get going. Plus it would be a great way to get
excercise. Sitting in a car all day would make you a sediate individual.
You need excercise to keep in shape.

I suppose that the improved version uses an electric pump powered by the
battery...

I am laughing at the original poster. I don't believe this is doable. The
power to pump the air in a compressor can't keep up with the expenses of air
supply. It would be like $100/mn spending while your income is $5-$10/mn.
Bigger pump requires bigger battery, if bigger battery then forget this air
deal, let's go with Electric motor.

Why can't he post the article for people to read ?

He sounded like one guy who thinks Converting car to Hydrogen will save the
problem. Hydrogen isn't powerful enough, and to refuel the tank would be a
big pain.

Well Larry; If you are laughing at the original poster it is because you are
too stupid to realize that the original post was tongue in cheek.
